“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
What Romans 8:28 means
Notice the word all — not some things, not the good things only. Paul isn’t saying every single thing that happens is good; he’s saying God is able to weave all of it together for good. The setbacks, the detours, the seasons that made no sense in the moment — none of it is wasted in His hands. You don’t have to see the whole pattern to trust the One who is stitching it, and this promise is for a specific people: those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
Today’s prayer
Father, when I can’t make sense of what I’m walking through, help me rest in the promise that You are working it all for my good. Remind me that I am called according to Your purpose, not left to chance. Teach me to love You in the waiting and to trust You in the dark. In Jesus’ name, amen.
