“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
What 1 Peter 2:9 means
On the days you feel ordinary, overlooked, or not enough, Peter reminds you who you actually are: chosen, royal, holy, and belonging to God. This isn’t about what you’ve achieved — it’s about who God made you in Christ. He called you out of the darkness and into His marvellous light, not so you’d hide, but so your life would show off His goodness to the people around you. You don’t have to earn this identity. You just have to live today like it’s true.
Today’s prayer
Father, thank You that in Christ I am chosen, royal, holy, and Yours. When I forget who I am, remind me that You called me out of darkness into Your marvellous light. Help me live today showing forth Your praises, so the people around me see Your goodness in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
